Some of you recall our coverage of young gun drifter Nick, AKA 'DriftKid', back in Impending a while ago. Well, here's the latest update below. It looks like up and up for this guy.
Trolling for Japanese feature cars (as you do), I came across this interesting workshop, Kei Paddock, a wee bit out of the way, but with some very impressive demo cars, including this black NA SR20-powered S15 with quad-throttles. If you check out the YouTube link at the bottom of this page, you can hear just how angry it is.
Thanks to our in-house desinger Phil, we can now release this shot of our new PI mascot. We'll be announcing the winner of the naming comp soon, and look out for this guy in coming issues - in colour, of course.
After a big user survey, driving blog Jalopnik has come up with the top 10 best driving videos of all time, and we'd have to agree. It includes everything from Ken Block's infamous gymkhana vid to Pike's Peak and Isle Le Man action. Check it out here (Image via Jalopnik).
Blog Jalopnik had an interesting post recently discussing which cars haven't suffered under the cold, hard hand of time. What out there hasn't aged a bit? They came up with the Honda NSX (NSX-R specifically), but we'd have to put the Series VI-on RX-7 FD, which still looks as sweet and perfect as it did the day it rolled out. (NSX-R pic via Jalopnik).
Check out this link over at blog Jalopnik for video footage which sees an electric-powered Datto named 'White Zombie' taking down an R35 GT-R, which is no mean feat. This could well be the future, my friends.
Check out this very unusual panda Levin-vs-MR2 mashup. I like the front end, though the rounder style of the MR2 doesn't sit comfortably with the squarer lines at the back. Interesting, nonetheless. Check out the original thread at JDMST full of other weird conversions here.
Our hard core colleagues over at Zoom Magazine took a trip out to Pulse Racing in Menai, NSW, and spoke with Paul Fisher who walked us through some of the modifications carried out to the Pulse Racing World Time Attack Challenge Open Class winning Mitsubishi EVO.
Paul explains how some of the modifications their track-based race car can be carried out to customers' street-based vehicles.
Former PI staff member Paul Torony has done us proud by recently blasting his S13 Silvia to a Street Drag Challange table-topping 9.65@144.6mph run with new TO4Z and Mickey Thomspon 275/40/17 radials. With a quality 1.464 60ft, that is one seriously quick time, especially for a car that's driven to the track. Congrats! Check the vid at the 0:16 marker.
